
David Reed, a longtime healthcare government and former chairman of the American Hospital Affiliation, died Jan. 16 at his house in Palm Desert, Calif., in response to his obituary. He was 91.
Mr. Reed started his profession as a healthcare government at Cincinnati Common Hospital, the place he served as an assistant administrator, his obituary stated.
He went on to develop into president of Lenox Hill Hospital in New York Metropolis in 1979 and CEO of Samaritan Well being System, now Phoenix-based Banner Well being, in 1989.
In 1990, he turned chairman of the American Hospital Affiliation and CEO of St. Joseph Well being System in Orange, Calif., in response to the AHA.
Mr. Reed later was appointed chairman of the board for PacifiCare, which was a California-based supplier of medical insurance. PacifiCare was acquired by UnitedHealth Group in 2005, in response to LinkedIn. Mr. Reed retired in 2003.
